H.O.P. E. Restores Home to Increase Homeownership in Prince George’s County

On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 11am to 1pm, Housing Options & Planning Enterprises (H.O.P.E.), held a  ribbon cutting ceremony at 6419 Walker Road, Capitol Heights, Maryland. The event included the H.O.P.E. Home Tour, which featured a brand-new, fully-constructed, affordable single-family home in the Walker Mill neighborhood of Prince George’s County, MD.  Special gratitude to Redevelopment Authority for their support! Some of the attendees included: Donna Hurley, CEO/Executive Director of H.O.P.E.; Antoine Thompson, Chair of the Board of Directors of H.O.P.E.; Rosalyn B. Clemens, Senior Manager Redevelopment and Revitalization, Redevelopment Authority of Prince George’s County;  Jermaine Badgett, Project Manager/Design Architect, Affordable Architectural Revitalization of Communities, Studio; and Tenika Felder, AIA, Architect of Record, Redlef Group Architects.

The H.O.P.E. Home Tour was a unique opportunity to see our first ever renovated home under our initiative to fully rehab and develop homes in Prince George’s County. Guests can tour the home, browse the many beautiful home finishes including energy-efficient appliances, new front/back decks and meet H.O.P.E. staff, local officials and County stakeholders. There was information available about H.O.P.E.’s Homeownership Program, affordable mortgage products, housing counseling program, and our new designation as the County’s first non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).

A local family will soon be able to call the featured home there’s in the coming weeks. H.O.P.E. has also increased its income eligibility limit to serve buyers who lack other mortgage options. Now, a low-moderate income family of five earning 50% of AMI may qualify to buy this home.

As a locally based and community driven non-profit for over 10 years, H.O.P.E. provides one-on-one financial coaching, homeownership education courses, and post-purchase support so homebuyers are set up for long-term success.
